Back in 2019, Universal announcement that they would release the next two M. Night Shyamalan thrillers. The first was due to hit theaters on February 26, 2021. That turned out to be Old (Look at this HERE), which was only released on July 23, 2021 due to the pandemic. The second thriller was set to hit theaters on February 17, 2023, and that plan has changed as well – but for the better. He was pushed back to two weeks for February 3 2023, and the title was also revealed. Shyamalan’s next thriller is called Knock on the hut.
Shyamalan promoted the film and its new release date with this tweet:
Of course, no details about the plot of Knock on the hut were shared. They like to keep things a secret when it comes to Shyamalan projects. But the title is intriguing, and hints that we’re going to see something that begins with a creepy knock on the door of a secluded cabin. I’m all for a “Cabin in the Woods” movie by Shyamalan.
A few months ago, Shyamalan noted it was on the third draft of the script and it was “super tight”, less than 100 pages.
According to Deadline, Knock on the hut moved its release date because sticking to February 17th would have pitted it against the Disney / Marvel movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. You don’t want to be in the way of a little Paul Rudd.
There are some M. Night Shyamalan movies that I love and some that I really don’t, but I always give everything he does a chance. I will look Knock on the hut in 2023. Are you a fan of Shyamalan? Let us know what you think of his films by leaving a comment below.
