Do you like hiking and the view of the mountains? Many places to stay have great views, but this Washington cabin is more equipped than most. Observation tower hut, here we are! Add this cabin and hiking trail to your favorites if you’re up for an adventure like no other.

In these uncertain times, keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket-to-visit list at a later date.

Welcome to a place to stay that includes quite an adventure, the Evergreen Mountain Lookout. Renting a sturdy cabin here protects you from the elements and shows you some of the best scenery you’ve ever seen.
At the top of the trail, your stay awaits you with the most scenery you could wish for. As this is a watchtower, the windows face in all directions to allow you to see as far as possible.


At a height of 5,587 feet, this belvedere built in 1935 did its duty by giving firefighters a warning when fighting forest fires. Lightning and fire monitoring was a full-time job until the early 1980s. Later it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recently became a sleeping cabin.
On a clear day, gusts can see Mount Daniels, Glacier Peak, and even Mount Rainier. Even when the conditions are not so clear, seeing the clouds and fog from this summit is still a magical experience.
Even in July there is usually snow here near the lookout. Staying here is a bit more difficult than your average Airbnb, due to the outhouse hundreds of feet away and lack of water or heat. When you stay on a mountain, amenities are hard to provide.
Even with all of these things in mind, it’s hard to spend a night or two on a mountain with some of the best views Washington has to offer.
Staying on the lookout is limited to certain months when it is safe to take the trail and stay here. It can accommodate four people and customers have a list of items they should bring here to make sure they are well prepared.
