The Booth is a comfortable stand, bar or restaurant type space for two passengers, offering an intimate space to relax with a drink while on a flight with the airline. This is the latest update to Virgin’s onboard spaces and is expected to appear on a handful of Virgin’s Airbus A350-1000 jets. The booth will replace The Loft as the primary social space onboard Virgin, freeing up space for more Economy Class and Premium Economy Class seating.

Speaking of the new addition to their aircraft, Corneel Koster, director of customer and operations for Virgin Atlantic, said:

We love to create brilliantly different experiences, which is why we are constantly evolving our ideas to deliver something different and exciting in the air and on the ground.

The stand is slated to debut later this year in December. Passengers traveling between London Heathrow and Orlando airports will experience it first, with the functionality also set to expand on routes to destinations such as Barbados in the New Year.

As of yet, no details have been released on how passengers can take advantage of the space, so it is not yet clear whether it should be pre-booked by travelers before boarding their plane. flight.

It is also currently unknown how long passengers can reserve the space, as it has been suggested that it could be in hourly increments.

Social spaces on Virgin Atlantic aircraft are not a new phenomenon. Several Virgin planes already have such spaces on board, The Loft being a prominent example of a social space they already offer. Virgin’s Loft is an open-plan space onboard their Airbus A350-1000 that provides a more social space for passengers to relax, accommodating more passengers than the stand is capable of, and it is fitted with seat belts for passengers in the event of mid-turbulence of the flight.

While The Loft was known for its luster, The Booth will be equipped with more amenities for travelers to enjoy. The space includes 27-inch monitors that can display artwork, live shots of the aircraft, or other practical uses. The booth is also fitted with a table in the center that separates the two guests using the space, creating an intimate, face-to-face setting for travelers.

Flights carrying The Booth will accommodate 397 passengers. There will be 16 upper class suites at the front of the aircraft, followed by 56 premium economy seats and 325 economy seats at the rear of the aircraft.
